The journey to our closing on June 25, 2013, started earlier in the year when a family member of the sellers approached us to buy the house. Patie had mentioned to neighbors in passing an interest in the house. We had been on the house search for several years and in all honesty thought is was a long shot. We looked at the house and the initial excitement lead to discouragement as we saw the potential but know that there would be lots of work to get the house to where we would like it. We took the renovation budget into account and were able to get a contract based on what we thought the total number we would be.
Upon obtaining a contract, we discovered that in order to finance the purchase we would need to submit drawings and a construction contract to the bank. The bank would value the house based on the renovation being completed. I have included the pictures that we took the week before closing. This will give you an idea of the potential that we saw and the transformation to come.
These initial pictures give you a flavor for the exterior of the house. As you can see, it is a large yard with flat areas in the front and lots of area to play in the back.
